Chelsea vs Huddersfield

This premier league fixture was played at Stamford Bridge. The game started and within 3 minutes Barkley had a close chance that skimmed pass Lossl’s goal. 13 minutes later Gonzalo Higuain breaks the deadlock and scores his 1st goal for Chelsea. In the 21st minute Higuain almost scored his 2nd but just misses as it hits the side netting. There was not much action until the 46th minute and a penalty is given to Chelsea after a rash tackle by Kachunga on Azipilicueta. Eden Hazard steps up to take it and slots it home scoring his 11th and Chelsea’s 2nd. Its 2-0 at the half time break.

The game starts again and within 4 minutes Chelsea has another chance but it is missed as Willian received the ball from Higuain but the ball just misses Lossl’s goal. In the 66th minute Hazard takes his 2nd goal and Chelsea’s 3rd. Barkley played the ball into Hazard as he danced around Huddersfield’s defence and slotted it home. 3 minutes later and Higuain scores for the 2nd time today giving Chelsea the definitive win that they needed to stay in the top 4. After many changes to both teams and to not much avail. Until the 86th minute when David Luiz scores Chelsea’s 5th to round of a very one-sided fixture.

Chelsea vs Sheffield Wednesday

This 4th round game is played at Stamford Bridge and Higuain makes his debut. Nothing happens for 19 minutes until Kovacic releases Gonzalo Higuain into the right channel for his first chance but he is tracked by Lees, who makes a vital deflection to divert the ball out of play. In the 22nd minute Pelupessy is played through the Chelsea defence but is taken down by Ethan Amapadu in the box. The Referee points to the spot but VAR overalls the decision. 2 minutes later and a penalty is given to Chelsea after a late challenge on Azpilicueta in the Sheffield Wednesday box. Willian steps up to take the penalty and he jogs towards the ball stuttering once to throw off the goalkeeper and strikes it into the top right corner putting Chelsea into the lead after 26 minutes. The game enters a stalemate until half time.

5 minutes after half time Reach almost scores for Sheffield Wednesday but the ball comes back off of the post .14 minutes after the Sheffield chance Callum Hudson-Odoi has a chance and takes it for the 18 years old 2nd goal this season and Chelsea’s 2nd. For long periods of the game nothing happens, until the 83rd minute when Willian scores Chelsea 3rd and his 2nd. He and Giroud play one-two on the edge of the box and Willian strikes the ball beautifully to make it 3-0 Chelsea. 4 minutes later and Giroud attempts a spectacular but off target overhead kick. This is the last chance for this 4th round tie with Sheffield being knocked out and Chelsea with the 3-0 win. Chelsea had a gob smacking 80% possession of the ball compared to Sheffield’s 20%.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 4 Leicester City 3

The game started and 2 minutes in Nampalys Mendy has a yellow card after a long ball was played into Barnes and Mendy had to bring him down. In the 3rd minute Neves makes a spectacular strike and an even better save by Casper Schmeichel. Gray loses the ball in Leicester’s half, Moutinho steals it and in no time passes the ball towards the back post as Jota beats Simpson to the ball and scores. 1-0 Wolves 4 minutes in. 8 minutes later and Bennett is picked out from a corner by Moutinho and gets the better of Maguire and headers it into the back of the net after more dreadful defending by Leicester. Leicester are quick to respond as 6 minutes later Grey takes a shot and Patrico is quick to equal it and parry it away. 27 minutes in and Wolves should of had 3 as Jimenez delivers a superb cross. Maguire misses it and the ball falls to Jotas head but sends into Schmeichel’s hands. Not much happens for the rest of the half.

Leicester came on with a bang after the half time break. Demarai Gray picked up the ball from Vardy after he held off Benett and he drills the ball into the bottom corner out of Rui Patricio’s reach. Putting Leicester back into the game. 6 minutes in and Leicester are equal after an own goal by Conor Coady. Barnes struct the ball after miscommunication by Jonny and Dendocknker and Coady deflected the ball back into his own net. After 64 minutes Jota scores Yet again after Neves picks out Jota he takes the ball down on his chest and smashes it home. After a long period of next to no action Leicester equalise yet again in the 87th minute. Wes Morgan scores a header that rebounded off the post and into the back of the net. There is 5 minutes extra time, 3 minutes into the extended period and Jota scores his 3rd and Wolves’ 4th. Nuno (Wolves’ Manager) is sent to the stands in an almost identical situation to Klopp when he stormed the pitch. The final score is 4-3 to Wolves in a heart racing game.
